Abele Tree House offers a range of flexible holiday accommodation in the centre of the East Devon coastal town of Budleigh Salterton, not far from Exmouth, Sidmouth and Exeter. The house is within 150 metres of the pebble beach in Budleigh and a two-minute walk to the local shops, cafés, pubs, restaurants and take aways.

​With two self-contained apartments and three en-suite bedrooms available in the main house, several combinations of family and holiday groups can be catered for.

The Coach House and The Doctor’s Rooms are self contained holiday apartments next to the main house.

Bed and breakfast

We have three en-suite bedrooms in the main house with twin and king sized beds, plus an additional children's room with bunk beds for families.

A classic Edwardian seaside home, Abele Tree House stands in about 3/4 acre of walled gardens.

Centrally located in the heart of Budleigh town, a 'pebbles throw' from the beach.

We stayed at the end of March and the weather was really grim, but the Coach House was such a lovely place to come home to each day that we had a very nice holiday in the area. Beautifully and simply appointed, spotlessly clean, comfortable, cosy, warm, quiet, right opposite the Information Office and a small supermarket. (There are 3) Next door is the Methodist Church which serves tasty meals if you are staying in Budleigh for the day and the local fish and chips are good. The local shops are varied and interesting and all occupied. It's a good base for walking if the weather is good and when the reserve on the Otter is completed, it will be a wonderful place to spot wildlife. Our hosts were very kind, helpful and friendly. We would like to go again in warmer weather and enjoy sitting in the secluded suntrap at the back. The cutlery drawer is cleverly tucked away inside the deep kitchen utensil drawer, so we had to ring and ask where it was....now you won't have to! I have given 5 stars as we enjoyed staying there so much.

Well appointed, comfortable beds.  tasteful decor and furnishings.  Off street parking a bonus.  All amenities close by.  Private courtyard for sitting/eating outdoors.  Big thanks to Meg and Robert.

Abele Tree House was a fabulous place to stay; by far the best on our two week walk along the South West Coast Path.  The house itself is beautiful - high ceilings, large rooms, classical details with lovely art on the walls.  Our room, likewise was very roomy, with a large bathroom that had modern fixtures.  The bed was super comfortable.  The house is incredibly convenient:  5 minute walk to the beach, across the street from the TIC, short walk to the food store, restaurants, ice cream stores.  Perfect.  Our custom breakfast was delicious too.  The hosts are very gracious - friendly but not over bearing.  The perfect B&B.

Rob and Meg have done a stunning job on the Coach House which has been re-modelled and improved since my wife and I knew it. There’s loads of room for two couples and two bathrooms to boot!
The combined kitchen and living area, beautifully equipped and tastefully furnished, looks over the enclosed, utterly private patio garden which is a real sun trap. Parking directly outside is handy and with the local shops two minutes one way and the beach only two minute walk we found ourselves leaving the car behind! Highly recommended ……..but you may find you don’t ever want to leave.’

Sie wohnen bei einem freundlichen und hilfsbereiten Gastgeber. Ein geräumiges sauberes Zimmer. Meine beste Übernachtung innerhalb eines mehrwöchigen Aufenthaltes in England. Ein gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Sehr gutes Englisches Frühstück. Wer möchte, kann sich beim Frühstück mit Musik aus der Musicbox unterhalten lassen - ein historisches Stück. Der Gastgeber bietet neben Zimmern und Apartment auch ein Ferienhaus für 2x2 Personen mit zwei Badezimmern an.

You stay with a friendly and helpful host. A spacious clean room. My best overnight stay within a holidays of several weeks in England. Good value for money. Very good English breakfast. If you like, you can be entertained at breakfast with music from the jukebox - a really historical piece. In addition to rooms and apartments, the host also offers a holiday home for 2x2 people with two bathrooms.

​We wanted to write to say how much we loved staying in the Coach House last week. It was so comfortable and a lovely place to be. It accommodated the four of us on our last night perfectly.  My sister and I kept remarking on the decor and the finishing touches everywhere.

Our recent two nights stay were superb in every way. Our room was large, a comfy double bed beautiful white bed linen, and comfy pillows. There were two comfy chairs, and the room was fitted with everything one could possibly need. The decorations, fixtures and fittings are state of the art, the bath towels are huge, the shower enormous, the water hot and plentiful….the decor fresh, everything was just spotless. Slept like a log! Breakfast, well the options are enormous, everything individually cooked to perfection. Thank you to the breakfast chef. Robert and Meg who run it are phenomenal hosts, such a warm welcome and absolutely nothing is too much trouble. Although we only live in Exeter, we most definitely will be returning for a few nights/days of R&R, it was perfect.

​What a gem! We stayed with our daughter for one night and wish we could have been there for a week! Absolutely wonderful accommodation, very comfortable beds and superb breakfast. Everything you could want and right in the centre of Budleigh Salterton! Such welcoming hosts and such good value. We will definitely be back and recommending to all our friends. It is a beautiful home and you will not be disappointed.

​A fabulous place to stay for couples or solo breaks. The location is fantastic, close to the shops and the beach. Inside is extremely comfortable and has everything you would need. It felt like a home away from home, that you won’t ever want to leave from! The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful!
